The 22nd JCRC Photo-Shoot. Selects.

October 31, 2008

A few preview pictures of the 22nd JCRC Photo-Shoot, which occurred on the Friday evening of October 10th, at one of the myriad ADM studios, with Sam – Silver’s friend and a third-year ADM student (i think) – the chief photographer of the day.

The following are some appetizers to whet your palate. Old school retro being the theme of the day, we were too busy fooling around in our costumes, as well as our thick and rather outlandish make-up. It was a night of fun, nary a moment of boredom in between waiting for our turn of the shoots as we entertained ourselves with, you guessed it, impromptu shots.

And we had cameras on hand to capture this action.

The main course will be up on the Hall IV website as well as the JCRC notice-board soon enough. So keep your eyes peeled for that!

Exam Supper

October 28, 2008

The torrential downpour and the impending examinations failed to dampen the spirits of NTU HALL OF RESIDENCE IV residents as the exam supper came to a resounding success.

On the evening of Thursday, 23rd October 2008, loud music blared from the sound system set up at the stage in front of the canteen and the whiff of good food filled the podium air.

Due to the torrential downpour (and really, it was raining cats and dogs!), we had to downsize the event by shifting our food booths into the podium, as well as the makeshift stage in front of the canteen; this, in spite of our original plans to have the stage on the grass patch in front of the block 26 TV room.

Granted that things were a little messy at first due to the huge crowd within the confined space we had, things kicked into gear soon enough. Stomachs were kept happy with free donuts from the Donut Factory, as well as free puffs from Polar Puffs & Cakes, established outlets, and renowned in their own right.

In addition, TOTs had also set up a booth to sell ice-cream at $1 per scoop in a bid to raise funds, while the JCRC had another booth of their own, selling old Hall IV t-shirts and sub-committee t-shirts at very low prices.

Also, there were two hours worth of performances for our residents, by performers such as our very own Jam Band – Brown Shoe Electric, Carol (who brought us a solo of Stefanie Sun’s “Ren Xing”, which climaxed with a mock proposal by Zun Chen on the egging of the crowd!), Zhong Leong & Ling Qin (who brought the night to an electrifying atmosphere with a resounding version of A*Mei & Jam Hsiao’s “Yi Yan Shun Jian”), amongst many others.

We would like to thank all residents of Hall IV for your support in this event.

I, on the behalf of my 22nd JCRC, would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone all the best for the upcoming examinations!

Signing Off,
Walter

Hall Fellow Dinner @ Nova/Taser

October 20, 2008

It was a night of get-togethers for the year ones from Orientation Groups of NOVA and TASER from OMC 2008 at the second Hall Fellow Dinner (the first one featured Orientation Groups MIDAS and EDEN).

Despite the onset of the impending examinations and the onslaught of projects, there was a rather fine turnout at the event that evening.

The OGs themselves could mingle amongst each other (re-bond? HAHA. fine, not funny), and there was laughter aplenty to fill the night. In addition, there was much meaningful interactions with our hall fellows who had come down to enjoy the meal of KFC and Pizza Hut and to mix around with our Hall Residents.

The following shots capture the fine moments of the evening:

Mirage On The Horizon

October 1, 2008

What a hectic month it has been for Hall 4! The month of September saw 17 of our very own residents sworn into office and the 22nd Junior Common Room Committee (JCRC) taking up the mantle to serve the hall for the next working year. As the Euphoria/ Mid Autumn Festival 2008 “Mirage On The Horizon” was first major event since the formation of the committee, we were all excited to catch a glimpse to what the 22nd would offer us in the coming year.

We were not disappointed. The Social secretaries did themselves proud as our hall dressed up for this event with pretty lanterns and the awesome banner by Publicity formed the backdrop for the stage. Emceed superbly by resident linguist Royston and our eloquent Hall Queen Lu Bin, the event kicked off with Senior Hall Fellow, Prof Yap, giving a speech to the crowd of residents. While out of Pulau Nanyang, one might catch up on old times over a cup of coffee; here in Hall of Residence 4, we do it with style- we caught up over steamboat. Games were played; food was won by the respective tables. As the residents exchanged banter with each other over dinner, they were well entertained by delightful performances led by the Sing and Strum as well as the Chinese Drama. Even the occasional slight drizzle could do nothing to dampen the high spirits of the people who attended the event. The event came to an end too quickly for some with the cutting of the birthday cake for our Hall, with the birthday song led by our resident Project Superstar runner- up Nathaniel.

Happy Birthday, Hall 4!

Happy Birthday, Hall 4!

All in all, it was a job superbly done by the 22nd and it surely whetted the appetites of the residents, who can only imagine and look forward to future exciting events in the year ahead.
