Sepak Takraw QFs – Hall 4 v Hall 6

January 5, 2009

JANUARY 2, 2009
- Silver

Hall 4 was up against Hall 6 for the Sepak Takraw Quarterfinals. Among the players were Professor Brian Tan Roy, who dealt a mean headshot. David was also excellent at saving the ball with his headshots.

David began with a smiling pep talk and encouragement of all players, including some strategizing.

Next, the first game began with David, Yong Hwa and Zhong Leong putting up a valiant fight against what seemed to be Hall 6’s strongest team, with a score of 10-21.

Praga, Professor Bryan Tan Roy and Colin went on to challenge Hall 6 in the next match, with a much closer score of 16-21.

Lastly, Jevon, Weisheng and James led Hall 4 to win the last set, with a score of 21-17! Great game Hall 4! The score for Hall 4 was at 20 points even when the scoreline was 20-12, but Hall 6 persisted in pulling their score from 12 to 17, until Hall 4 secured the win by scoring the last stubborn point. Congratulations to Team Hall 4, though we are not proceeding into the quarterfinals losing the game 1-2, you have put up a great fight!

Throughout the game, it was immensely inspiring to see the players and friends encouraging each other and congratulating each other. Manly backslaps and handshakes occurred among themselves each time a goal was successfully defended/achieved. Such team spirit among the players was very touching and indeed a testimony that regardless of the score, friendship was something they treasured and appreciated. Camaraderie is indeed something which is prized above winning, for Hall 4 players!
